The Tooth Fairy’s hunky new boyfriend “Merman” stars in Bent Image Lab/Deustch’s latest spot for Diet Dr. Pepper. Directed by Ken Lidster, the stop motion spot continues the plight of the Diet Dr. Pepper delivery man and his need to prove that a satisfying diet drink does exist! Produced in stop motion with CG elements, the fifth spot of the “Unbelievable” campaign features a blond, bronzed Merman mobilized in his seaway segway and escorting the Tooth Fairy to the “I Exist” support group. Stunned to discover the delicious, zero calorie beverage he downs the cola and smashes his aquarium cart in exuberance, causing his water filled carriage to leak all over the floor and soaking the other make-believe characters.

“Merman” began airing on January 2nd, 2012.
