Our own Nando Costa’s the headliner at the first meeting of AEPDX, the local Adobe After Effects users group, on November 12 . He’ll be giving attendees a peek behind the scenes of his latest creation, the music video for Modest Mouse’s “Whale Song”.
This six minute epic, a marriage of Bent’s stop-motion/live action expertise and Nando’ motion graphics mastery, has received plenty of attention since it first dropped on Pitchfork.

Bent’s director and creative partner Nando Costa is amongst the 4 artists commissioned by Adobe to create a short film using the new Adobe CS4 suites. Nando represented the newly released Master Collection with an animated piece that in ways works as a symbol for his creative process. The site adobeartists.com also shows an interview with Costa while he was still at Nervo, before joining forces with Bent.
The Cut & Paste Digital Design Tournament 2009 lands in Portland this Saturday. The Portland Art Museum will host the competitions in 2D, 3D, and Motion Graphics and Bent’s director Nando Costa will be one of the judges for the animation portion. For more information visit Cut & Paste.
